The new Atomic Series PX600 cards are similar to the previous Application Accelerators from Fusion-io leveraging a FPGA controller, which is able to leverage host resources. The larger capacity 5.2TB model (FHHL) needs a larger height for the additional NAND, although it still fits in most servers on the market, just not all slots. For 1-2.6TB versions, the card has the smaller HHHL form-factor, which provides a near universal fit in servers on the market. Both designs feature a programmable FPGA, offering greater long-term flexibility and update support compared to an ASIC design. Though the overall product lineup has been simplified, the core Fusion architecture has not.
